This tree had fallen on a public path after what social media called 'stormageddon' 2013. As a route that I regularly take my dog for walks on, and which is used by many other dog walkers in my area, I began to think of cutting through it as a sort of challenge.

For me, cutting through this tree was a way of connecting myself to people in a city where I still feel a stranger. Being able to cut through something that would be an obstacle to others made me more aware of the routines and shared paths which connects me to other people, as well as allowing me to feel more alive in myself.
